Customisation:
Fulfilling the individual requirements of the athlete

asics ‘quest to be the best’ is all about refining the product, protecting the athlete and improving performance. Sophistication is the catch phrase of modern athletic footwear, with a change in perspective that is: The foot should not adapt to the shoe, as we now have clever footwear that adapts to the foot.

Technology is allowing us to draw closer to the concept of individualisation in footwear by matching the right shoe to the right sport and foot type. We call this customisation, and it will drive our ‘quest to be the best’ for the next decade. Fit, comfort and performance are the fundamental parameters of technical footwear, and the foundation of asics reputation as the industry innovator. Where fit, comfort and performance overlap, customisation is possible taking technical footwear one step closer to fulfilling the individual requirements of the athlete and the sport.

The way a shoe fits, drives the way it performs and defines athlete comfort. Biomorphic Fit™ and PHF (Personal Heel Fit) technology are recent asics innovations that are designed to compliment I.G.S. and deliver maximum comfort and fit for the individual.

Continuing our quest for individual fit, asics have developed the new ComforDry Sockliner to be introduced across the asics I.G.S. range. The brilliant ComforDry Sockliner is an environmentally friendly product comprised of virgin polyurethane and recycled tyre powder. The ComforDry Sockliner will first be seen in the new GEL Nimbus VI and will comprise a dual layer cushioning system.

Whilst the new ComforDry Sockliner is all about fit, SpEVA lasting is all about comfort. SpEVA is asics' new improved EVA lasting material to be introduced across the new season running shoe range. asics is the industry standard in performance footwear technology. Central to this technology is the asics proprietary I.G.S. componentry, tried, tested and proven on the toughest test lab of all, the battlefield that is running. I.G.S. has evolved from a simple concept to a sophisticated design philosophy. It began with shear deformation componentry, added twist GEL, then revolutionary trusstic systems and finally windlass mechanics. The next chapter in the I.G.S. story is Space Trusstic.
